If the welded frame, hinge mount, or brace on your Elite gate has cracked, torn, or pulled loose, we stock the steel and the skills to fix it right. A typical Elite welding and fabrication repair in Dallas runs $180 to $650 installed, depending on the thickness of the metal and whether we’re repairing in place or removing the gate leaf. We carry the common Elite-compatible brackets, hinge plates, and reinforcement stock on the truck, so most jobs can be handled same day once we see the break.
Most owners discover the problem the hard way: the gate starts sagging, dragging on the driveway, or binding against the post. You look closer and find a hairline crack running through a weld joint, or a hinge ear that’s torn clean off the gate frame. What started as a minor alignment issue is now a structural failure. We see it all the time in Dallas neighborhoods like Lakewood, Preston Hollow, and East Dallas, especially after a few seasons of summer heat expansion and winter contraction working on older steel.
Which Elite Models This Applies To
We weld and fabricate for virtually every Elite gate the company has sold over the past two decades. That includes the Classic series, the SL-3000 and SL-1000 slide gate models, the CSW-200 swing gate, and the older Estate and Magnum lines still running on plenty of Dallas properties. The compatibility gotcha with Elite is the frame gauge. The lighter residential models use 14-gauge tubing, while the heavier slide gates and commercial units run 11-gauge or thicker. You can’t weld one with the other’s stock and expect it to hold. We always match the repair material to the existing frame thickness.
Identifying the part you need is usually a matter of measuring the tube or plate that failed. Look for the white Elite ID sticker on the gate frame near a corner post. If it’s gone, measure the outside dimensions of the square or rectangular tubing and check the wall thickness. Tell us those numbers, and we’ll tell you whether an OEM Elite replacement part or a properly matched aftermarket equivalent makes more sense. For hinge ears and simple brackets, a quality aftermarket plate in the same gauge welds in just as strong as original. For slide-gate trucks and welded motor mounts, we recommend OEM Elite geometry because the hole spacing has to match exactly.

Signs Your Elite Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- Visible cracks at weld joints: You’ll see a dark line or actual separation where the frame tube meets the end cap, hinge plate, or diagonal brace. This happens when years of gate cycles fatigue the original weld, especially on gates that were factory-welded with minimal penetration.
- Gate dragging or scraping the drive: When a bottom rail or hinge weld fails, the gate loses structural support and sags. The weight shifts onto the far hinge, and the leading edge starts grinding across the concrete or catching on the track.
- Binding at the post or the stop block: A twisted or cracked frame throws the gate out of square, so the latch doesn’t line up and the gate won’t fully close. You’ll hear metal-on-metal contact when it moves.
- Rust blooms or flaking metal around welds: Dallas humidity and the minerals in our soil accelerate corrosion along welded seams where the original paint or powder coat was thin. If you poke the area with a screwdriver and it flakes, the metal is thinner than it looks.
- Loose or torn hinge ears: The hinge plates welded to the gate frame or post are the highest-stress points on any swing gate. Once an ear tears away from the tube, the gate hangs by less than half its original support and can fall if ignored.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what Elite welding and fabrication work costs in Dallas, parts and labor together:
- Weld repair at a single cracked joint: $180 to $280
- Hinge ear replacement and re-weld: $240 to $380 per hinge
- Bottom rail or cross-brace reinforcement: $300 to $500
- Square the gate frame and re-weld multiple points: $450 to $650
Every price is written down and agreed before any work starts. You’ll know the exact number, and it will not change at the end of the job. The quote includes cutting out the failed section where needed, prepping the surface, welding with matched stock, grinding smooth, and priming the work. We don’t paint the finish coat unless you ask us to at the time of the quote. All welding work we do is backed by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s in writing.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the honest split. You can absolutely check the obvious things yourself: look for cracks, note where the gate drags, and snap a few photos of the damage. That’s safe and useful. What you should not do is attempt a weld repair on a gate that’s suspended on its hinges and under tension, especially a slide gate with a heavy steel leaf. The gate can shift while you’re working, the grinder can bind, and a bad weld on a load-bearing frame member gives way under the weight of the moving gate. We have had to redo plenty of DIY welds that looked fine on the surface and failed within weeks.
If the break is in a non-structural decorative element and you have real welding experience and the right protective gear, you might manage it. But if the piece supports the gate’s weight or attaches to the operator, that’s a job for someone who welds gates every week. Call us at (361) 322-4460 and tell us what broke. Cole Rafferty will tell you what it costs to fix it, before a tech touches a thing.
FAQs
A properly matched weld on a cleaned and prepped surface should outlive the original factory weld, typically 10 to 15 years in the Dallas climate. The biggest factors are moisture exposure and whether the gate goes out of alignment later, which re-stresses the repaired joint. We wire-brush and prime every weld we make to slow the corrosion that kills gate steel around here.
For minor hairline cracks in low-stress areas, yes. We grind the crack out, weld it solid, and add a small gusset if the location can take one. A crack in a main load-bearing tube usually needs the section cut out and sleeve-reinforced, because simply welding over a fatigue crack doesn’t stop the underlying stress. Call (361) 322-4460 and describe where the crack is, and we’ll tell you which path fits.
Most single-joint repairs and hinge ear replacements are done in 60 to 90 minutes on site. If the gate has to be unbolted, laid flat, squared, and re-welded in multiple places, allow three to four hours. We carry the steel stock, grinder, and welding rig on the truck, so we don’t have to leave and come back with parts for the common repair types.
Yes. The trucks carry a working inventory of hinge ears, gusset plates, slide-gate truck brackets, and 14-gauge and 11-gauge tube stock sized for Elite’s common residential models. If your gate takes an unusual bracket or the heavier commercial frame, we order the OEM Elite part and schedule the weld when it arrives, usually within three to five business days. We also keep parts in stock for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls operators, since Elite gates often run with one of those.
If your Elite gate is cracked, sagging, or dragging, call Warden Gate Repair Dallas at (361) 322-4460 for a free estimate. We’re an independent gate and opener company, not affiliated with Elite, but we’re factory-trained on their equipment and we weld to the spec your gate needs. We’ll send you a photo of the tech before they arrive, write the price down before any work begins, and stand behind the repair for a full year.
