We stock and install BFT-compatible welding and fabrication parts across Dallas, with most bracket, hinge, and gate frame repairs running $350 – $900 installed, depending on the extent of the weld work and your gate’s weight. Same-day service is available when we have the part on the truck, and we’ll tell you before we dispatch whether that’s the case. Most owners discover the problem the hard way: the gate starts dragging on one corner, or they hear a metal-on-metal groan from a cracked hinge, or the opener starts straining against a frame that’s no longer square. By the time you’re searching for a welder who knows BFT equipment, you’ve usually already noticed the gate doesn’t close flush anymore or the post has started leaning.
Which BFT Models This Applies To
BFT swing gates, slide gates, and barrier arms all rely on fabricated steel components that take the brunt of daily use: hinge plates, gate brackets, post mounts, rack mounts for slide gates, and the arms that connect the operator to the leaf. The compatibility question isn’t usually about the BFT operator model itself, it’s about the physical hardware on your gate and how it was originally fabricated. A BFT Phobos swing operator uses different mounting brackets than a BFT Deimos sliding operator, and the hinge geometry matters more than the operator series. When we arrive, we measure the bracket pattern, the gate leaf weight, and the post condition before quoting anything. For BFT specifically, we’ve found the OEM mounting hardware is well made but often undersized for heavier gates installed in Texas, where wind loads and thermal expansion stress welds more than installers account for. We carry OEM BFT brackets when the model is current, and for older or discontinued BFT hardware, we fabricate replacement brackets to match the original mounting pattern, usually in heavier-gauge steel than what came from the factory. Warden Gate Repair Dallas is an independent service provider and is not affiliated with BFT.

Signs Your BFT Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- Gate sags on the latch side. The top hinge weld or the hinge plate itself has started to crack or stretch, which shifts the gate’s weight onto the latch and the operator. In Dallas, summer heat cycles speed this up because the steel expands and contracts daily, and any marginal weld fails sooner.
- Operator strains or trips its limit. When a bracket flexes or a hinge binds, the BFT motor works harder to move the same gate. If you hear the motor laboring or it stops mid-travel more often, the problem is usually mechanical, not electrical.
- Visible cracks at weld joints or bracket edges. Hairline cracks around hinge plates, post brackets, or the operator arm mount are the clearest warning sign. Once the paint line cracks, moisture gets in, and Dallas humidity and rain accelerate the failure.
- Gate post leans or shifts. A leaning post means the post weld or the concrete footing has failed, not the gate itself. This is the most expensive fix and the one that gets worse fastest if you keep using the gate.
- Rattling or clanking during travel. Loose or broken welds let the gate move in directions it shouldn’t. The sound is the gate shifting on its hardware, and it only gets louder as the slack grows.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Dallas, expect to pay $350 – $900 for most BFT-related weld repairs and bracket replacements, installed. A single hinge plate replacement or a small crack repair typically lands at the lower end. A full hinge set with post reinforcement or a fabricated operator mounting plate runs toward the upper end, and if we’re repairing a cracked post or re-welding a section of the gate frame, the price reflects the additional steel, prep, and time. Every quote includes the written price before we touch anything, the part or fabricated bracket, the weld work, and cleanup. We warranty our fabrication and weld work, and if the repair isn’t right, the 365-Day Done Right Promise means we come back and fix it at no charge. You’ll never see a surprise line item at the end.
DIY or Call Us?
Welding a cracked hinge or bracket yourself is not a beginner project, and it’s not a safe one if you’re working under a gate that weighs several hundred pounds. The tension in a sagging gate can shift suddenly when you cut or grind a failed weld, and a gate that drops on you causes serious injury. What you can safely check: whether the crack is in the metal or just in the paint, whether the post itself is moving at the concrete line, and whether the hinge bolts are loose. If it’s a loose bolt, a wrench fixes it. If it’s the metal, call a welder who knows gates, because BFT equipment uses specific mounting dimensions and guessing costs more than the service call. Cole Rafferty puts it this way: “Tell me what it’s doing wrong, and I’ll tell you what it costs to fix it – before I touch a thing.” Call (361) 322-4460 and we’ll give you a straight answer.
FAQs
A properly welded and painted bracket or hinge repair on a BFT gate typically lasts 8 to 15 years in Dallas, assuming the gate stays within its weight rating and the opener’s limit settings aren’t forcing it. The biggest killer of weld longevity here is heat cycling combined with humidity, which is why we grind the failed weld fully before re-welding and use a rust-inhibiting primer before paint. Call (361) 322-4460 if you want us to assess whether your existing welds are nearing the end.
In many cases, yes, a cracked bracket or hinge plate can be ground out and re-welded, which usually costs less than a full replacement. But if the steel has thinned from rust or the crack runs through the mounting holes, we recommend replacement rather than a patch. We’ll show you the part before we decide, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.
Most single-part weld repairs on BFT gates take 1 to 2 hours on site, not counting the time to prep and paint. A full hinge set replacement or post reinforcement can take 3 to 4 hours. We’ll give you the time frame with the price, and we won’t start until you’ve approved both.
We carry common BFT hinge plates, post brackets, and operator mounting hardware, plus the steel stock to fabricate right on site when needed. If your BFT model requires a part we don’t have on hand, we can usually source it within one to two business days. We also stock parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls, in case your property has more than one gate brand.
